The Bowflex Dumbbell: Very Long, But Very Effective Dumbbells
The Bowflex Dumbbell is a popular quick change adjustable dumbbell made by Nautilus. The bowflex selecttech dumbbells work by turning a knob to select the weight. With a maximum weight of 52.5lbs, the selecttech dumbbells are very attractive looking when the weight plates are full, but they do look a little odd when you’re working with a lower weight.
The selecttech dumbbells have a fixed length of 16 inches. Unlike the Powerblocks or the Ironmaster dumbbells, where the weight is proportional to the length (meaning, the lower the weight, the shorter the dumbbell and vice versa), the selecttech dumbbells remain at 16 inches even at the lowest weight. This may look and feel odd because it seems as though you’re lifting long bars with each arm.
Although it may take a little getting used to, the selecttech quick change dumbbells are still one of the best adjustable dumbbells on the market.
