Powerblock Dumbells: How do they compare with Regular Dumbells?
How do the powerblock dumbells compare with regular dumbells? Here are a few reasons why power block dumbells may be right for you:
Price
Powerblock adjustable dumbells replaces a whole dumbbell rack of hex or pro style dumbells. On a pound-for-pound basis, both may be similar, but since you don’t need multiple dumbell sets, the overall cost is lower.
Space Efficiency
As for saving space, you can’t beat the power blocks. They’re only 2 dumbbells, compared to 56 fixed weight dumbells.
Comfort
The foam grip handles on the Powerblock makes it very easy and comfortable to use. Regular dumbbells normally have a metal handle, which can dig into your palm and cause calluses. Also, there are bars on the side of the power block dumbbells to support your wrists.
The downside to the Powerblock quick change dumbells is that they’re less durable than regular dumbells. It’s easier to damage or crack the powerblock plates compared to a regular cast iron dumbell. But this is not an issue if you make sure that you don’t drop the weights or clash the powerblocks together.
