Fundamental Dumbbell Techniques
Working out with dumbbells is one of the most effective ways to develop strength, size, and muscle tone. There are some fundamental dumbbell techniques to use during all dumbbell exercises.
How to Use Dumbbells Properly
Body Alignment
An important aspect when working out with dumbbells, or any form of strength training is the proper alignment of the body. Your abdominals should be tight (acting as a weight lifting belt), back straight and feet planted firmly on the ground. Lifting dumbbells with an unaligned body is a surefire method to producing lower results, lower performance and it can lead to injuries.
Breathing Technique
Weight lifting and exercising with dumbbells is an anaerobic activity, but breathing is still an important factor. Never hold your breath while you’re working out with dumbbells. When you’re using dumbbells, inhale as you relax your muscles and exhale as you contract.
Overall, by applying and making use of these two basic procedures when working out with dumbbells, you will lower your risk of injury, increase your performance and reach your goals much faster.
