Adjustable Weight Benches: Don’t Perform Your Dumbbell Workouts Without One!

Nothing compliments a pair of adjustable dumbbells better than an adjustable weight bench (actually, an exercise bench is pretty much mandatory if you’re planning to exercise with free weights!). Most dumbbell workouts are performed on an exercise bench. In fact, if you don’t have a dumbbell bench, you’d be limiting yourself to the number of dumbbell exercises you use for your workouts, and potentially stunting your progress.

Overview of Exercise Benches

Adjustable weight benches come in many variations. Some of the more reputable brands are by Body Solid, PowerTec, and Mega Tuff. Most adjustable benches only adjust from the flat to the incline position. However, the most versatile weight benches to exercise with your dumbbells are the benches that can adjust from a flat to a decline and incline position. With multiple levels of adjustment, you’ll get more exercise options (such as the decline dumbbell press and decline dumbbell fly) for your workouts with this kind of bench.

Nautilus BowFlex 5.1 Select-Tech Dumbbell Bench

The SelectTech dumbbell bench can be set to 6 different angles in the decline, incline and flat bench position. As with the Bowflex home gyms, this dumbbell bench is constructed with quality, and it’s as sturdy as most workout benches you would find in health clubs. The dumbbell bench can be used for sit-ups as well as shoulder presses (at a 90 degree angle).

The Bowflex SelectTech dumbbell bench comes with a removable leg hold down brace, and attached wheels for easy transportation after your workout.

It’s a solid adjustable bench, looks very slick and goes well with the Select-Tech dumbbells.

However, if you’re looking for the ULTIMATE adjustable bench to use with your dumbbells, take a look at…

The IronMaster Super Bench!

Of all adjustable dumbbell benches available, IronMaster’s Superbench is one of the best. Not only can you use it as an adjustable exercise bench, but you can also add attachments such as a chin-up bar, dip bar handles and sit-up accessory. All these attachments add further versatility to the adjustable bench, and add more variety (calisthenics exercises) to your dumbbell workout options.

Here are some features of the IronMaster Dumbbell Bench:

• 11 available angles for the inclines, decline, flat and upright positions. 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 75, 80 and 90 degrees.

• Dumbbell bench weighs only 60 lbs

• Rated for 1000 lbs in the flat position (meaning that if you workout with 500lbs dumbbells on each hand, this dumbbell can tolerate this kind of weight!)

If you train with free weights, the Ironmaster dumbbell superbench is an awesome bench to exercise with. Although it’s made by Ironmaster (the same company that produces the Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells), you can use this bench with the Powerblocks dumbbells, SelectTech dumbbells, or any sort of free weights.

Given its fair price compared to other exercise benches, and the ability to add attachments to it, this dumbbell bench is one of the best values on the market.
