Dumbbell Routines
Well designed dumbbell routines can stimulate your muscles to grow bigger and stronger. Working out with dumbbells is the most effective method of exercise to build size and strength, simply because your muscles are forces to control the weight during the movement, thus making it more difficult for your muscles. Unlike workout machines where the equipment is designed to guide you through the movement of the exercise, more effort is needed to enforce proper form during dumbbell exercises, which stimulates your muscles more effectively than any machine.
To design a dumbbell training routine, select dumbbell exercises that utilize multiple joints (a.k.a. compound exercises). Compound exercises such as the dumbbell bench press, shoulder press and 1-arm dumbbell rows allow you to lift heavier weights during your workout, and you can stimulate more muscles with one exercise.
When performing the dumbbell exercise, make sure that you train with a complete range of motion, and don’t perform partial reps! You can achieve a greater stretch during the dumbbell exercise, working out your muscles more effectively compared to partial reps.
