Dumbbell Press: Things Not To Do

The dumbbell press is one of the best exercises for your chest, shoulders, and triceps. The flat dumbbell press is an exercise that should be included in any dumbbell workout plans. Although this is an excellent exercise to build upper body strength, some people execute the press incorrectly.

Here are some things to keep in mind when performing the flat dumbbell bench press:
Push the Dumbbells up at an Angle

Individuals who are new to dumbbell training make this mistake. When the finally lie on the bench ready to perform the dumbbell bench press, the push up at an angle, and it almost looks as though they were doing dumbbell triceps extensions. If you’re new at working out with dumbbells, have someone spot you or show you the correct way to lift during the dumbbell bench press.
Bouncing At the Bottom of the Press

Not only is this incorrect, but it is dangerous as well. The bouncing at the bottom of the movement can lead to unnecessary injuries in your shoulder joint. Keep the dumbbell under control at all times during the dumbbell bench press. Move the dumbbell slowly during the press. Not only will this prevent injuries, but it will give your muscles a better workout as well.
