Dumbbell Holder
One of the main disadvantages of traditional fixed weight dumbbells is the need for space and storage of the dumbbells. If you take a look in the weight room of a health club, you can find a dumbbell holder running across the walls under the mirror in the room. A long dumbbell rack is required to hold all of the dumbbells, which can range from 2.5-130lbs or more. For home use, this might be impractical, simply because there isn’t enough space to support all the dumbbells.
Adjustable dumbbells on the other hand, allow you to use dumbbells ranging from a light weight all the way up to 130lbs without the need for multiple dumbbell weights. They replace a weight room full of dumbbells, and often a single stand is used to hold the weights. The powerblock dumbbells do not require a stand due to its box like shape, whereas the Bowflex dumbbells are dependant on a stand or support system.
To save the cost and space required for fixed weight dumbbells and dumbbell racks, while having the benefits of working out with dumbbells, adjustable weights are the way to go.
