Dumbbell Fasteners on Quick Change Dumbbells

dumbbells

Ever wonder how adjustable dumbbells like the powerblocks or bowflex dumbbells work? Unlike the older adjustable weights where you need to manually add weight plates and secure a collar onto the dumbbells, modern day quick change dumbbells are a little more complex. The dumbbell fasteners on these systems vary, and here’s an overview of how the fastening process works on quick change dumbbells:

PowerBlocks

To change the weight on the powerblock dumbbells, all you need to do is a selector pin to choose the weight you want to use. The process is similar to that of changing the weight on a weight stack on commercial exercise equipment.

Bowflex Dumbbells

Fastening the weight plates on the bowflex dumbbells is based on a dial locking mechanism. The bowflex selecttech dumbbells are designed to lock the dumbbell handles to the base if the adjustment knobs or not fully selected. To change the weight, turn a dial on the dumbbells to the desired weight until a clicking sound is made.
