It’s a common belief that to lose weight and burn fat, what you need to do (exercise wise) is spend countless hours doing aerobic workouts, and adding any sort of resistance training will only make you “bulky”. This is not true, in fact, adding strength training exercises will actually help you lose fat. Adding a dumbbell exercise routine to your weight loss plan is not only helps you lose fat, but it can make your muscles look toned and sculpted.

Dumbbell workouts are the best form of resistance training. A resistance training workout strengthens and builds your muscles, and fat is burned inside the muscles itself. So, the more efficient and larger your muscles, the more effective your body will be at burning fat, even when you’re not exercising.

Working out with dumbbells also brings out the natural muscle shape and tone most people try to achieve with exercise. Don’t worry about getting too “bulky”, especially if you’re a woman. In order to achieve the huge muscles of female bodybuilders, you’ll need to do a lot more than train with dumbbells. Female bodybuilder’s workout all the time, and their goals are probably different than yours. For most people, exercising with dumbbells and free weights will give them a lean, toned physic rather than an overdeveloped muscular body.

Overall, adding a dumbbell weight training exercises to your overall plan for weight loss will help your body accelerate the process of burning fat.
