Designing an Effective Dumbbell Workout Program

Failing to plan is planning to fail, and that goes the same with dumbbell workouts. Whatever your goals may be, in order to reach them quickly and effectively you need a workout plan. Designing an effective dumbbell workout program may take some time initially, but the time invested in creating your plan will be worth it in the long run.

Without a workout plan, most people will exercise by doing what they feel like doing. Some people call this “instinctive training”, but the truth of the matter is, a well designed workout program will give you results faster compared to simply going to the gym and lifting dumbbells whenever you feel like it.

To create a plan working out with dumbbells, you need to consider your goals. By knowing your goals you can effectively select the weight, number of reps, sets and the type of dumbbell exercises you’re going to use. To add further detail to the program, you can include the time under tension (the amount of time you’re using the dumbbell during a set), and the time of the rest period.

Create the plan and stick to it. You will not have to think of what to do when you’re working out because it’s already planned out for you, therefore you can concentrate on lifting weights while you’re exercising at a health club or at home.
