Bowflex® Selecttech™ Dumbbells: 552 and 220
The bowflex® selecttech™ dumbbells come in two flavors: the 552 and the 220. Both models are adjustable dumbbells, sport an attractive look, and are based on a dial dumbbell system. Here’s an overview of the 552 and 220 bowflex dumbbells:
Bowflex Selecttech 552
- Maximum weight of 55.2lbs per dumbbell
- Replaces 15 pairs of fixed weight dumbbells
- Approximate price of $399
Bowflex Selecttech 220
- Maximum weight 20lbs per dumbbell
- Adjusts in 2.5lb increments
- Replaces 9 pairs of fixed weight dumbbells
- Approximate price of $299
The selecttech dumbbells each have their own optional stand. However, the stands can only be used with a certain model (i.e. a 220 stand for the bowflex 220 dumbbells, and a 552 dumbbell stands for the selecttech 552).
Also, with the selecttech 220, you cannot upgrade to the 552 dumbbells with additional weight plates like certain models of the Powerblocks or Ironmaster dumbbells. If you’re going to choose a pair of Bowflex® Selecttech™ weights, go with the 552 model because you can get over twice the weight of the 220 dumbbells at a cost of an extra $100.
